Lichen Sclerosis

Lichen sclerosis is a chronic vulvar skin condition that is most commonly seen in women over 50. The condition is often characterized by thin, pale, and wrinkled vulvar skin that is vulnerable to pain, itching, bruising, tearing, and blisters. Drs. Kimble are usually able to diagnose lichen sclerosis during a simple discussion of your medical history and symptoms, followed by a brief physical examination. While traditionally, lichen sclerosis has been difficult to treat, Drs. Kimble have had wonderful success using a CO2 laser treatment known as Mona Lisa Touch. In fact, in using Mona Lisa Touch in conjunction with topical cream treatments, the doctors have noted dramatic improvement in maintenance of lichen sclerosis.
