I was fortunate to be born in Texas to immigrant parents during the year of the fall of Saigon. My parents, sister, brother and I were taken in by a kind and generous American family—the Buschs to whom I’m eternally grateful. My parents left behind the only world they knew to come to America in hopes for my siblings and I to have the ability to pursue dreams and a life of possibilities. However, I didn’t always view being born into a world that forced me to exist in-between two places (the East and the West) as fortunate. I quickly learned to appreciate from my upbringing and childhood that I was positioned uniquely to forge an identity that would be completely shaped and informed by unwritten experiences.
My Commitment to Women’s Health
I didn’t plan or grow up like my brothers knowing I wanted to be physician and surgeon. However, my work in college in advocacy of disadvantaged women in Southern California and in developing countries slowly showed me that acquisition of health in all forms, wellness and human dignity is not a privilege but a human right that is denied to many. Through this work, I learned I wanted to be a woman who improves the lives of all other women, without separation by sea, border, birth, or zip code. This led me to decide to study medicine and dedicate myself to become a physician and a leader in women’s health.
My Values as a Physician and Surgeon
Having grown up in Southern California and having been educated at leading institutions throughout Southern California as well as in New York and Chicago, my husband and I decided to return to Southern California after years as medical faculty at an academic college in New York. We returned to Southern California to bring our talent and skills gained over decades to build a center for all females, or those who identify as female, that reflects our values as expert surgeons in the field of female pelvic reconstructive and intimate cosmetic surgery.
Our center offers inclusive, patient-centered care that is grounded in shared decision making. We have uncompromising standards to bring to you the leading, most innovative and technologically advanced treatments for intimate cosmetic and urogynecological conditions.
