Overactive Bladder

In normal conditions, as the bladder fills and becomes engorged with urine, your nervous system triggers a signal to your brain to alert your body it is time to empty your bladder. That “gotta go” signal is critical to prevent accidents or, even worse, rupture of the bladder. However, when the bladder becomes overactive, the “gotta go” signal is always on, creating a constant sensation of needing to use the bathroom.

Some causes of an Overactive Bladder include:

  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Pelvic floor prolapse
  • Side effects of medications
  • Weakened muscles and nerve damage
